Euro Football Saturday Review 8/12

Surprises:

1.Chelsea 2-3 Burnley- Who expected Burnley to go to Stamford Bridge and get a 3-0 lead at half before Chelsea made a game of it albeit too late. Chelsea gets an extra day to think about it as they do not play until 11am next Sunday at Wembley against Tottenham, while Burnley has their home opener next Saturday against West Brom at 10am.

2.Watford 3-3 Liverpool-Another surprise as the points were split, Liverpool hosts Crystal Palace and Watford is at Bournemoth both Saturday 10am starts.

Notes-

1.Nantes 0-1 Marseille- pretty much as expected

2.Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich both won easily in their DFB Pokal games before opening weekend next weekend (Munich hosts Leverkusen Friday 230pm and Dortmund is at Wolfsburg Saturday 930am)

3.Brighton & Hove Albion 0-2 Manchester City- Can not say I was surprised, Manchester City is a better team by a wide margin

Team of the day- Burnley

Dud of the day- Chelsea

Ahead-

In other non Euro action-

1.Monterrey vs Chivas 8pm Univision- 2 top teams in Liga MX do battle

2.Pachuca vs Tigres 806pm ESPN Deportes and Galavision- just like above

3.LA Galaxy vs NYCFC  10pm ESPN2- Good way to end the night

Sunday-

1.BPL has 2 games Newcastle vs Tottenham 830am and Manchester United vs West Ham United both on NBCSN, the 1st game is the return of Newcastle to the BPL and the 2nd game is Manchester United against West Ham and their signing Chacarito

2.Liga MX has 2 games with Pumas vs Lobos BUAP 1pm Univision in an intriguing game between a good Pumas team and a surprising Lobos team then its Santos vs Veracruz at 730pm on Univision Deportes in what should be an easy win for Santos to be honest.

3.The Italian  Supercup from Rome between Juventus at Lazio is 245pm on GOL TV

4.PSG is at Guingamp 3pm on Bein Sports
